Rohna are a four piece, genre-bending rock band from Tampa, FL. Integrating elements of indie rock, neo-soul, punk, alternative, and psych rock, their fresh take is topped only by their energetic and entrancing live performance. One of their goals is to have their recorded material bring the same energy as a live show. As a result, this allows listeners to foster a more personal and intimate connection with the band.

Because they’re best friends, their cohesion both live and on record is incredibly tight but moody and emotional. Not resting on their laurels, the band’s debut LP, “The Beautiful Ordinary” is diverse and engaging from start to finish. Without spoiling too much, this record incorporates a wide variety of genres that further proves their technical and creative skills. There are many, many highlights on this album that will be discussed in detail in the “Reviews” section.

Not only is their music top notch, they’re also an incredibly motivated group that have a nose-to-the-grindstone attitude. They’ve booked several of their own runs, self-published and promoted a record, and are constantly engaging fans via social media. A few of their members are active in the Tampa metalcore/hardcore scene as well, giving them a perspective that similar bands might lack.

The band are using their fresh sound as a vehicle to inspire positive change through their music. As far as Florida gems go, this is a band that should not be slept on. Their relentless tour schedule is going to resume when live shows become a possibility so make sure to have them on your radar. In the meantime, follow them on social media and check out their debut record anywhere you stream music. Cheers!

Hi there, everyone. First of all, thank you for taking the time to check out this blog, it means a lot to me and the bands involved.

In the absence of live shows, I've felt a weird kind of emptiness that can't really be filled by live streams and other mediums. The thing I miss most is going to several shows a week and being inundated with new music, people, and situations. Because of that absence, I've decided to create a platform where that kind of immersion is invited and celebrated.

Each week, I'll be featuring a new band that comes coupled with an interview and a review of their latest material. This process will be as genre-blind as possible, as each style of music brings something unique to the table and I would like to be as inclusive as can be. That means everything from Indie Rock to Metalcore. My specific music preferences are all over the place so I'm hoping that there will be something for everyone to enjoy. As long as a band brings value to the Florida music scene, I'm happy to give them the recognition they deserve.

I'll be updating this blog regularly so make sure to save this page and check back often. I'm extremely excited to share the content I have in mind with you all and can't wait to see where this adventure takes us. The first band feature will be posted on July 20th so be on the lookout.

Also, if you're interested in having your band featured on Sunshine Underground, please don't hesitate to contact me via my information on the "Contact" page. I'd be more than happy to do what I can to help. Cheers!
